Yeah, this movie? It sucked. Like big time. And that's just wrong because you know what? I was all set to like it. Vin Diesel to me means instant liking of a movie.
However, this movie, either just plain did not suit him, or it was that sucky of a script. I think my opinion of Vin Diesel as an actor may have even sunk a little; that's how bad the movie was.
It could have been good--a better script, some better ACTING, hey, yeah. Could have been. Instead it just relied on bad stereotypes and flat jokes instead of the amazing hotness of Vin Diesel and the surprisingly good looks of the young character Seth (hey! Just looking isn't robbing the cradle, okay?!). Vin couldn't even really bother to act for this one. He's supposed to be a Navy Seal, right? Supposed to be all stereotypically military and intimating in a drill-sergently way. Yeah, a freakin' ball of LINT is scarier than he was in this movie. He wasn't forceful at all. There was no POWER behind the lines. And really, what's the point of having the stereotypical Navy Seal running around, if he's not going to be military-like?
And some of the plot points were just... not. I just couldn't suspend my disbelief for them. Bad plotpoints and bad characters: the bank, the damn boyscouts or whatever the hell they were supposed to be, the over-the-top vice principal/wrestling coach (and how the hell did he get in the fucking play anyway?), etc. And the neighbors? Speaking Korean, then switching to American for the quick ha-ha? Yeah, they fucking grated on my nerves.
The little girl character Lulu, however, was priceless. And I'm not just saying that because I have a fondness for that name. :) But the rest of the movie? Dude, what the fuck ever. Even if the duck did make me laugh.

And I hate previews >_< Never watch the fuckers, which is why I almost prefer VHS to DVD. At least then I can CHOOSE whether or not I want to watch the goddamn previews, instead of them fucking disabling the fast-forward/skip/MENU buttons. VHS always has the fast-forward option. Not to mention, you can simply not rewind it all the way, like perhaps to say, just the beginning of the movie and never have to know the previews exist!
I miss old movies, though. You pop one of those babies in and you're just so fucking surprised when it starts right up.

True! And then you sit there thinking: "Where's the menu...? Where are the previews and promotions and all that nonsense?" xD I used to love previews. Now they're so slick I'm really starting to hate them. They're so over the top. And 9 out of 10 it's always the same guy doing the voice over. Bleah. His voice is so over the top, plus I resent being told what a movie will or will not do for me. And what's the deal with previews giving away most of the movie? All that's missing sometimes is the ending. Jeez.
Hmm. Ranted a bit there...
